Sean Star
An avid after-hours dancefloor vixen, critically acclaimed nightclub promoter/host and DJ located in Toronto, Canada. You could say I'm a triple threat and I'll do whatever it takes to get you dancing!
Having a Father that played in a classic rock band that held practices in their basement, created a nurturing environment that exposed Sean to many different genres of music at a very young age. When he moved to Toronto in 2007, he began frequenting iconic venues such as The Guvernment, Fly, & The Comfort Zone(CZ), which led him to develop a deep love for electronic music. Having the opportunity to be a promoter at Peter Gatien’s Legendary Circa Nightclub, gave Sean an insider view of Toronto’s underground dance culture. After Circa’s sudden closure, he would spend his weekends on the dance floor at Fly Nightclub first, then continue the party at the infamous afterhours known as the Comfort Zone aka CZ, a venue that held weekly events featuring the city’s finest house/techno producers and DJs. Back then, CZ did have a bit of a rough reputation though, but this wouldn’t stop Sean from going, since the main priority was always about the music. By simply telling his friends to give CZ a chance, Sean would create a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ to attend and dance until the late morning hours. After a short time he would be scouted by CZ resident, DJ Dekoze and sign on to be a promoter for the venue and work alongside the Jungle Funk Recordings label. The many hours spent surrounded by the sounds of phenomenal DJs, led Sean to seek out and acquire a large collection of music, spanning multiple genres. Next he would invest in some gear and give DJing a try, beginning to hone his unique sound. Boasting 14+ years of experience and having played at Toronto’s top venues, you cannot ignore the noise and contributions Sean Star has made to the Toronto Club scene.
