QUEERCOY is a public sculptural intervention and human rights campaign created by Wild Flag Studios and commissioned by WorldPride Toronto. Artists: Nigel Nolan and Vanessa Harden.
Installed from 26-29 June 2014, the QUEERCOY experiment adopted an approximation of a human form made from wire, cloth, papier-mâché and surveillance equipment. The entire surface hand-painted by Nigel Nolan in a vibrant floral pattern.
The project adopts an approximation of a human form that is embedded with surveillance equipment to record the occurrences that surround QUEERCOY. Throughout the WorldPride Toronto event, QUEERCOY was placed in multiple scenarios to offer their personalised account of the festival.
