TORONTO NATIVE DAVID FURNISH WILL SERVE AS PRIDE TORONTO PARADE GRAND MARSHALL

Also Guest of Honour at private reception on behalf of PRIDE TORONTO and the Elton John AIDS Foundation

TORONTO, ON, April 28 | Pride Toronto announced today that Toronto Native, producer, and Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) Chairman David Furnish will serve as Grand Marshall of the annual Pride Toronto Parade. Furnish joins previously announced International Grand Marshall, Bollywood star and United Nations Champion Celina Jaitly.

The parade will begin at the corner of Church and Bloor Streets on Sunday June 28, 2PM and continue to Yonge-Dundas Square.

Pride Toronto announced today Bollywood star and United Nations Equality Champion Celina Jaitly will be honoured as the 2015 International Grand Marshall, and will lead the annual Pride Toronto Parade, Sunday June 28, 2015. 

A high-profile Indian actress, Jailty is internationally recognized as a film and beauty icon. In addition to her successful Bollywood film career, Jaitly is a vociferous human rights activist for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and a prominent advocate for the repeal of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Cide (which criminalizes consensual, same sex relationships in India), despite cultural objections and threats to her life.

PRIDE TORONTO COMMITS LARGEST PROGRAM DONATION TO DATE FOR FIERTÉ CANADA PRIDE’S SCHOLARSHIP FUND

TORONTO, ON, March 25 | Pride Toronto has confirmed to commit $2,500 to Fierté Canada Pride (FCP), the association of Canadian Pride Organizations, at the recent 2015 Annual Conference and AGM in Saskatoon.

This money will be used towards the 2016 FCP Scholarship Fund, and is the largest program donation received to date.

We understand the importance of advocating for Prides on a national level and most importantly learning from one another,” said Aaron GlynWilliams, Board Of Directors Co-Chair. “Pride Toronto wants to make sure that the support is there for Pride organizers of any size event to have the same opportunities and experiences – we’re all here for each other.”

PRIDE TORONTO OFFICE IS MOVING

The Pride Toronto office is moving!

Beginning March 18th, Pride Toronto will open it’s new office doors at 55 Berkeley Street, Toronto, ON M5A 2W5 (please note: Pride Toronto’s phone number will remain the same).

In this new location, Pride Toronto’s office will now offer increased accessibility features, including: a fully accessible main floor, accessible washroom and visual fire and security alarms in addition to auditory alerts.

Our new fully accessible location now offers opportunities to our community members who previously were unable to visit and meet,” said Mathieu Chantelois, Pride Toronto Executive Director. “In addition to this emphasis on accessibility, I’m excited for Pride Toronto to also increase our footprint in Toronto, expanding from the Church-Wellesley Village.”

Pride Toronto’s new office space will also include 7 staff offices and a boardroom, as well as hot-desking for 10-12 volunteers and outdoor space.

55 Berkeley Street can be reached by the TTC, via the King and Queen streetcars, or Parliament and Sherbourne busses.

We thank everyone for the memories over the years at 14 Dundonald Street, and look forward to welcoming you in our new home!
